Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does therapy work?
It works, if you work it! Does going to the gym work? It's not easy and it doesn't happen quickly, but change can happen. The good news is that the answer to that question is up to you.
  • How long are therapy sessions?
Sessions are typically 53 minutes in length.
  • How long will I be in therapy?
The duration is completely up to you, what you want to work on, and what level of improvement you desire. Typically, sessions are once a week and last anywhere from five sessions to one year. The time span of counseling can vary depending on need, frequency, and desire for check-ins. We view therapy as regular healthcare, and recommend it be something incorporated into one's life. Therapist and client will collorborate to determine what will be best.
  • Do you accept insurance?
Yes! Tiffany is in network with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Illinois PPO (Including: Blue Choice PPO, Blue Choice Preferred PPO, and Blue Options PPO). For clients with other insurance, they will be provided with a Superbill that they mail to their insurance companies, and may be offered reimbursement by their insurance company. There is also the option of paying out of pocket.
  • How much does therapy cost?
    Please visit Policies & Procedures.
  • What can I expect during the first session?
During the first session you can expect to be provided with a safe and therapuetic environment. The therapist will learn about you as a person and the goals that brought you into therapy. We will collaborate on what therapy will look like for you.
  • What if I'm not a person of color?
At Soul City Therapy, we see everyone. We did want to be intentional about catering to an often under-represented group, but we are open to seeing everyone!
  • How does teletherapy work?
You’ll be sent a link for the video session. Click on it when our session is scheduled to start, or open it through the Telehealth by SimplePractice app (download free in the app store). You can use the camera and audio on your computer or mobile device. You'll be provided more information if you are doing therapy via this avenue.
